Ambassador Zacaria, launching the EU-Brazil Cookbook on Europe Day |
Brasilia - On Europe Day (May 9), Ambassador Ana Paula Zacarias, Head of the EU Delegation in Brazil, launched the EU – Brazil Cookbook, "Approaching
cultures, sharing flavors". The recipe book
contains one traditional recipe for each of the 27 states of the EU as well as for
each of the 27 states of Brasil and includes the Maltese recipe, "stuffat
tal-fenek" (rabbit stew). The recipe, often identified as Malta's national dish, quite possibly started off as a form of symbolic
resistance to the hunting restrictions imposed by the Knights of St
John, rulers of Malta between the 16th and 18th Century. The recipe book is in both English and Portuguese and is available for sale in Brazil for R$ 80,00.
